Brace your selves for the Pantone Color of The Year for 2024.... drum roll please... Peach Fuzz 13-1023!!! I don't know how to feel about this one. Have we stepped too far back in time? The color reminds me of the 90's. I'm a 80's baby and I don't miss this color. Actually, I'm still reminded of this color every day in my parents house. No shade. Just not a fan of peach. Maybe one day I will be?

When Did Pantone Color of the Year start?
From an article discussion with Laurie Pressman, Vice President of Pantone Color Instituteâ„¢, she talks about the legacy of Pantone. The Pantone Color Institute was originally created to establish the Pantone Color of the Year educational program in 1999. This program was successful. It now engages individuals in the design community and color enthusiasts in many places around the world. The focus is to have conversations solely around color. Astounding! Topics based upon culture, globally, is expressed and reflected through the language of color. Pantone wanted to draw attention to the relationship between culture and color, to highlight to their audience how what is taking place in the global culture, may influence new technology, textures, materials, social media platforms that are relevant, cause and effects of color impact, and sporting events that attract worldwide attention.

In a nutshell, Pantone Color Institute. The team of global color experts do. They make their decision on what color is the winner for the next color of the year by programming and discovery. This process is similar to how interior designers, like myself at Amei Interiors gather information to develop interior design. The Pantone Color Institute team will watch and review entertainment industry and films in production, fashion, traveling art collections and new artists, all areas of design, travel destinations that are aspirational, new lifestyles, playstyles, or enjoyable escapes, as well as socio-economic conditions. Every color is unique and never repeated. Ever.

Why is Pantone Color of the Year important?
For Pantone, their goal is to help companies and consumers understand the power that color has. Color is one of the most powerful tools for communication. For generations, color tends to be the first thing our psyche connects to. It's a visual language that is understood by humans worldwide. Color serves as an expression of a mood and an attitude that people will resonate with around the world. Color can say, what words cannot.Â

Founded in 1985, the Pantone Color Institute hopes to promote fluency in the language of color that will educate, and inspire others. Executive Director Leatrice Eiseman, who helped to start the Pantone Color Institute, has a background in color, psychology, and design. The ongoing color preference study research which she conducts through the Pantone Color Institute serves as the foundation for who we are and all that we do in every day life.
